有的人，最近我还发现方舟子，把这词做为贬低公共知识分子的用词，显然按上面的解释来看是不对的，而且他们自己也是公知，主张共产主义的人里面马克思、恩格斯、列宁、鲁迅、毛泽东、周恩来和邓小平等年轻时都是公知，至于其它派别自然也有不少这样的人是公知。
